This year I'll be using a system that my friend over at Mayo Poker Tour, Michael Higgins put forward. Its a little hard work, and will be very different than last years system of player of the year being whoever cashed the most in the league. Like the previous two years, the winner will be presented with the Four of a kind Player of the year perpetual trophy, along with an individual prize at the end of year Christmas game on Thursday 17th December in the Moylurg Inn.
Anyways, here's how the POY will work this year.
Tournaments that fall in to the following criteria will be considered ranking tournaments:
A tournament must have a field of at least 10 players.
Tournaments must be open to anyone to enter and not restricted in any way.
Tournaments may be freezeouts or have rebuys and/or add-ons.
Team events, pairs events or similar will not qualify for ranking status.
Tournaments which do not meet the above criteria but have large prize pools will be regarded as special events and may be given ranking status.
Ranking Points will be calculated based on three figures that are multiplied together.
"Position Factor" x "Buyin Factor" x "Entry Factor"
Position Factor Buyin Factor Entry Factor
1st = 150pts €25 - €49 = 1 1 - 12 = 1
2nd = 120 pts €50 -€74 = 2 13 - 20 = 2
3rd = 100pts €75 - €99 = 3 21 - 36 = 3
4th = 80 pts €100 - €149 = 4 37 - 48 = 4
5th = 70 pts €150 - €249 = 5 49 + = 5
6th = 60 pts €250 + = 6
7th = 50 pts
8th = 40 pts
9th = 30 pts
10th = 20 pts
Example on how system works:
A €100 Freezeout has 24 players entered: The winner gets 150 points. The Buyin factor is 4 and the entry factor is 3: Therefore this makes 1800 points! 150 x 4 x 3
As soon as any money deal is made, the points will be frozen at that point. For example, if three players agree a deal, all three players will be given third place points regardless of their final position. If the final two players agree on a deal then each gets second place points.
